Bill Gray — Co-Founder & Geoscience Lead
Bill began his offshore career more than three decades ago, working with the Geological Survey of Canada on the Scotian Shelf. After completing a Dalhousie University thesis on the geotechnical properties of accreted marine sediments, he spent time in Canada’s North in the mineral exploration industry before pursuing Ocean Mapping studies at the University of New Brunswick.
His career later took him to Ontario’s “south shore” to join the Canadian Hydrographic Service, contributing to Arctic region charting and seabed mapping programs. Seeking broader field experience, Bill founded Geonautical Sciences Inc. in 2001, providing hydrographic and geoscience consulting services to clients around the world.
Career highlights include managing LiDAR processing for the entire Arkansas River basin, conducting thousands of kilometres of full-ocean-depth cable route surveys, leading geophysical mapping of Brazil’s coastal zone, and managing thousands of surveys during the multi-year Hudson River Cleanup dredging program.
Today, Bill blends his geoscience background with his extensive survey experience as part of South Shore Subsea, applying his expertise to the complex seabed dynamics of the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan. When not working offshore, Bill enjoys restoring his old farmhouse and hiking with his old dogs.

George Osborne — Co-Founder & Survey Lead
George is a seasoned offshore survey professional with over 27 years of experience in marine survey, seabed mapping, and geoscience support for offshore energy projects around the world. His career has taken him from early site investigations to major offshore construction campaigns across both renewable energy and oil and gas sectors.
Before co-founding South Shore Subsea, George held senior survey and geoscience roles with international operators and engineering firms including Ørsted, BHP, and Intecsea Engineering. Most recently, he provided survey construction support for the Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan, living locally during key phases of construction and overseeing complex multi-vessel operations to ensure safe and efficient offshore delivery.
Educated at Saint Mary’s University and the College of Geographic Sciences (COGS) in Nova Scotia, George combines strong local roots with extensive global experience. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, surfing, boating, and spending time with his family, often near the same South Shore waters that inspired his career.
